Frognal Gardens Ltd were delighted recently to have the opportunity to redesign, restore and re-build an18th century garden in Hampstead High Street. Using traditional cottage garden plants and reclaimed materials, we are creating a wildlife haven in the centre of busy Hampstead.

We are delighted to tell you that you were thought to have the best hanging baskets in Walm Lane.

You may be interested to know how we arrived at this decision. In June this year, Mapesbury Gardening Club members looked at every front garden in our area. They announced the winners in three categories: best overall, best parking with planting overall, best window boxes, best hanging baskets overall. These results were agreed by full MapRA commitee in September. We have a special certificate which will be given to you at the Open Gardens Day.

Frognal Gardens wins award for Camden in Bloom 30th Sept 2009

Our lovely client Claudia decided to enter the Camden in Bloom 2009 competition with the wildlife garden that we designed and built at her Hampstead home in the category “wildlife garden” The mayor created a special award category “wildlife garden design”, because they had never seen a garden so wildlife friendly, yet so beautifully designed. The award was for the design and concept, and how each element of the garden was beautifully designed, yet each was perfect for wildlife as well. "Most wildlife gardens look wild as well" they said, “but this is also stunningly designed”. The stone walls, the deep pond with a shallow sloping beach, the jetty of old railway sleepers, the perennial planting, the sedum roof, all combine to create habitats for a huge range of garden wildlife.
